THE FUTURE IS BLASTASTIC! MILES FROM TOMORROWLAND PREMIERES FEBRUARY 21 ON DISNEY JUNIOR

All-star voice cast includes Olivia Munn, Adrian Grenier, Mark Hamill, George Takei, Bill Nye, Wil Wheaton, Alton Brown, and Brenda Song 

Toronto, ON - 4 February 2015 – DHX Media - This month, Disney Junior counts down to blast off with the premiere of animated adventure series Miles from Tomorrowland. Debuting Saturday, February 21 at 6:55 p.m. ET, the intergalactic comedy incorporates unique space and science facts into storylines that chart the outer space missions of young adventurer Miles Callisto and his family as they help connect the galaxy on behalf of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. Headlining a television event for the whole family, the Disney Pixar feature film Cars ushers in the series debut at5 p.m. ET.

Miles from Tomorrowland follows the explorations of Miles (Cullen McCarthy, Mr. Peabody & Sherman) and his family – mom and ship captain, Phoebe (Olivia Munn, The Newsroom); mechanical engineer dad, Leo (Tom Kenny, SpongeBob SquarePants); tech-savvy big sister, Loretta (Fiona Bishop,Sofia the First); and best friend robo-ostrich, Merc (Dee Bradley Baker, Phineas and Ferb). Together, they explore new galaxies filled with peculiar aliens, space-age vehicles and high-tech gadgets. Space, science and technology experts from NASA, the Space Tourism Society and Google serve as consultants on the series.

In the premiere episode “Runaway Shuttle/ Surfin’ the Whirlpool,” Miles and Merc rescue a trapped pilot before his ship crashes into Io, Jupiter’s moon. Then, Miles and Leo must work together to escape the Zuma Whirlpool waves on a father/son surf trip. Following the series debut, new episodes of Miles from Tomorrowland will air in its regular timeslot Sundays at 10 a.m. ET. Disney Junior OnDemand will also offer new episodes of the series as they become available weekly beginning March 6.

To jump start the family television event, Disney Junior kicks off the evening at 5 p.m. ET with the network premiere of Cars. The animated Disney Pixar film stars Owen Wilson (The Internship) as the voice of Lightning McQueen, a hotshot rookie race car who learns a lesson in friendship and humility when he becomes stranded in the sleepy town of Radiator Springs. The racing fun continues on Sunday, February 22 at 3 p.m. ET as Disney Junior’s sister network, Disney XD, debuts the film’s high-octane sequelCars 2.

In addition to the series regular cast, Miles from Tomorrowland features an impressive list of guest voice stars including: Adrian Grenier (Entourage) as Captain Joe; Mark Hamill (Star Wars) as Gadfly; George Takei (Star Trek) as Spectryx; Bill Nye (Bill Nye the Science Guy) as Professor Rubicon; Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation) as Commander S’leet; Alton Brown (Good Eats) as Lysander Floovox; and Brenda Song (The Suite Life on Deck) as Aunt Frida.

Launching today, the dedicated website is complete with cool colouring sheets, futuristic activities and crafty cut-outs. Printables include space helmets, Merc masks, galactic ID badges and Superstellar trading cards!

Emmy-nominated Sascha Paladino (Henry Hugglemonster, Ni Hao, Kai-lan) is creator and executive producer and Emmy-nominated Paul Demeyer (Duckman, Rugrats in Paris) serves as director. Nicole Dubuc (Transformers) and Greg Johnson (Planet Hulk) are story editors and Lisa Schaffer (Phineas and Ferb) is voice director.
