Halifax, NS - 24 January 2014 - DHX Media, a leading independent creator, producer, distributor and licensor of children’s entertainment content, has signed a trio of deals as it prepares to attend this year’s NATPE with new shows including Dr. Dimensionpants, Hank Zipzer, and Topsy and Tim along with well-loved favourites Super WHY!, Johnny Test, Little Lulu, Yo Gabba Gabba!, Caillou and Monster Math Squad.
Brazilian SVOD platform YouYn has acquired over 350 half hours of shows including Johnny Test, The Busy World of Richard Scarry and Caillou, and Qubit TV, a VOD platform has picked up almost 350 half hours including Sabrina’s Secret Life, Dennis the Menace, Inspector Gadget and Paddington Bear for Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. Television Entertainment Inc has acquired rights to season 1 of Super WHY! for Chile, Dominican Republic, Cuba and Central America including Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala.
DHX Media will be looking to further extend its presence in Latin America with new 2D animated HD series Dr. Dimensionpants (52x11’) which follows the adventures of Kyle Lipton. Kyle was just like the other kids – playful, happy and without a care in the world until one day an inter-dimensional portal opened up and dropped onto his lap a pair of glowing pants!
It will also be showcasing live action preschool series Topsy and Tim (60x11’), produced by award-winning producers Darrall Macqueen for CBeebies in the UK and based on the best-selling books. The series is full of warmth and humour, and above all authenticity. Topsy and Tim is a series that all families can recognize themselves in.
Also lining up on the DHX Media slate is Hank Zipzer (13x22), an HD live-action comedy with vibrant animation which is used to bring Hank's imagination to life. Hank Zipzer is inspired by the book series Hank Zipzer: The World’s Greatest Underachiever, written by Henry Winkler and Lin Oliver and published by Walker Books. Fast paced and funny, the series follows twelve-year-old Henry ‘Hank’ Zipzer, a smart and resourceful boy with a unique perspective on the world.
Preschool favourites Super WHY! (80x30’) Yo Gabba Gabba! (66x22’) Caillou (92x30’) and Monster Math Squad (50x11’) also line up alongside Johnny Test (117x30’) and Little Lulu (52x30’) on a diverse slate of standout animation and live action for NATPE.
