DHX MEDIA’S MONSTER MATH SQUAD SCORES KEY SALE IN FRANCE

Sale to Canal+ for popular pre-school series

Halifax, NS – 11 July 2013 –  DHX Media, a leading independent creator, producer, distributor and licensor of mainly children’s entertainment content, has inked a key deal with Canal+ to air Monster Math Squad (50 x 11’) across a range of key territories.

Following a deal with Canal+, the number crunching beasts of Monster Math Squad are solving arithmetic problems across France, Monaco, Andorra, Mauritius and Switzerland on its Canal+ Premium channel for Pay TV audiences. As part of the deal, Canal+ Afrique will also be taking the monsters to territories across the African continent.

Produced by DHX Media for CBC and SRC in Canada, the CG animated show Monster Math Squad stars lovable monsters that help children develop formative math-related skills. The show is created by Jeff Rosen who also created the DHX Media shows Poko, Animal Mechanicals and Bo on the GO.

Canal+ joins other key international broadcasters such as Discovery Kids in Latin America, YLE in Finland, EBS in Korea and HOP in Israel all whom have also licensed the popular math series.

Wiebke Hoefer, Director of Sales at DHX Media says: “Monster Math Squad is a really exciting and dynamic property aimed at developing core arithmetic skills in young audiences, and we are delighted to see the reach and impact it is going to have through these deals. Mathematics is both fundamental and universal, highlighted by the global reach of this deal.”

The Monster Math Squad is mad for math and all things “mathy”… counting, measuring, sizing, sorting, exploring shapes, patterns, time… you name it, it’s all math to these monsters. For the Monster Math Squad, math can solve any problem. The series’ mission is to promote the love of numeracy, the understanding that math is everywhere, and the realization that math is fun!
