DHX BRANDS’ TWIRLYWOOS LAUNCHES NATIONWIDE SEARCH FOR DAD DANCER OF THE YEAR 2017

Social media contest will support release of new Dancing Musical Statues Great BigHoo soft toy, sold exclusively at Argos

Halifax, NS – 23 October 2017 – Calling all dads! DHX Brands, the dedicated brand management and consumer products arm of DHX Media (TSX: DHX.A, DHX.B; NASDAQ: DHXM), announced today that the ever-curious Twirlywoos have launched a nationwide search for Britain’s “Best Dad Dancer.” The campaign, which coincides with the release of the Twirlywoos soft toy, Dancing Musical Statues Great BigHoo, celebrates all that is great about dads dancing, highlighting the funny, unabashed and sometimes embarrassing moves for which dads are known and loved. Dads, granddads and father figures alike are invited to upload their own dancing videos to the Dad Dancer 2017 website to win amazing prizes.

Sold exclusively at Argos, the adorable Dancing Musical Statues Great BigHoo will have preschoolers up on their feet, moving along with their favourite Twirlywoos character. With two fun modes to choose from, children can either dance along to Twirlywoos music, or switch to the Musical Statues mode, a narrated game children will love to play. The Dancing Musical Statues Great BigHoo soft toy is the latest innovation from Golden Bear, master toy partner, who have secured a number of awards for their Twirlywoos toy line, including the 2016 Right Start Best Toy Award for Run Along Fun Sounds toys.

Beginning today, father figures can upload their own dancing dad videos to the Twirlywoos Facebook Page for a chance to win their very own Dancing Musical Statues Great BigHoo and £500 of Argos Vouchers. Those looking for inspiration can check out the accompanying compilation clip featuring dads busting moves in videos from the internet, or refer to the fun and easy-to-use infographic outlining some staple dad moves to get the ideas flowing.

The nationwide contest has already generated media attention. So far, Dad Dancer of the Year 2017 has been picked up by 14 outlets including online by The SunMirror and The Daily Star and in print in the Daily Express with a total reach of over 4.8 million.

Twirlywoos is a premium preschool license; the latest creation from renowned children’s TV creators Ragdoll Productions. The much-loved series is a top performer for CBeebies, with new episodes coming in November 2017. The Twirlywoos are four small, bird-like characters who are inquisitive, enthusiastic and always looking to learn something new about the world.
