JOB DESCRIPTION


JOB TITLE: Overseas Supervisor
LOCATION: Sherman Oaks, CA

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Overseas CG Supervisor needed to work at our partnered overseas studio. Work with overseas studio to help trouble shoot and QC the work. This position will require frequent long-term stay overseas. For the high profile DreamWorks Animation television series, "How to Train Your Dragon".

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with Overseas Studio Leads to achieve artistic and technical goals
  • Make recommendations and help manage episode efficiency
  • Creates and manages a system for tracking status of deal memos, contracts and agreements
  • Oversee notes and direction from Director, Art Director, CG Supervisor, Animation Supervisor
  • Quality control of Surfacing, Animation, Lighting, and FX
  • Work with Overseas studio to help identify and, where possible, solve, pipeline and software issues
  • Troubleshoot information problems between companies to help with misunderstandings that delay production
  • To be able to art direct and trouble shoot FX
  • Communicate in a positive and articulate manner
  • Working to clear and defined milestones within a project and strict time constraints
  • Must be able to handle additional duties as they come up


JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS


Work Experience
3 to 4 years previous experience as a CG supervisor or Overseas Supervisor

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

  • High School diploma required
  • BS/BA degree preferred

Knowledge/Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of all stages of 3D animated episodic production
  • Ability to communicate artistically and technically in Animation, Lighting and FX
  • Understanding of Maya, Compositing, and Mental Ray
  • Technical skills in Lighting and FX
  • Understand, create or modify Maya shaders Composite render layers
  • Composite render layers
  • Optimization of render times
  • 2D painting skills for markups

Mental Demands

  • Must be comfortable working Overseas for up to 6 months at a time
  • Must have the ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to organize and schedule work effectively
  • Must have the ability to work well under time constraints
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to work long hours when necessary
  • Demonstrates ability to be proactive and anticipating potential problems before they occur and follows through on every task assigned
  • Demonstrates ability to be proactive about keeping everyone in the loop and up-to-date on the status of all tasks

Software

  • Maya 2011
  • Compositing package (Fusion, After Effects, or Nuke)
  • Photoshop
