JOB DESCRIPTION


JOB TITLE: CG Layout Artist
LOCATION: Sherman Oaks, CA

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Looking for onsite CG Layout Artist. Artist will be responsible for staging shots and plotting the action that will take place within each scene. This is a full-time position with industry competitive rates. IATSE 839 classification. For the high profile DreamWorks Animation television series, "How to Train Your Dragon".

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be able to read storyboards
  • Setup Backgrounds, props, and Characters
  • Animate with an understanding of timing
  • Add temp effects to layout
  • Must work closely with Directors and Producers
  • Communicate in a positive and articulate manner
  • Working to clear and defined milestones within a project and strict time constraints
  • Must be able to handle additional duties as they come up


JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS


Work Experience
2 to 4 years previous experience in CG Digital Layout

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification

  • High School diploma required
  • BS/BA degree preferred

Knowledge/Skills

  • Production Layout experience
  • Strong Cinematography
  • Strong acting skills that could be translated to the CG character
  • Must have an understanding Hand keying character animation
  • The ability to create motion for creatures, weapons, and vehicles
  • Create stylized poses and limited movement
  • Understand Character rigs and how they affect the character
  • Simple particle systems
  • Experienced at troubleshooting technical problems and creating solutions
  • Optimization

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with managers, outside vendors, and other levels of personnel
  • Must have the ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Must have the ability to organize and schedule work effectively
  • Must have the ability to work well under time constraints
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to work long hours when necessary
  • Demonstrates ability to be proactive and anticipating potential problems before they occur and follows through on every task assigned
  • Demonstrates ability to be proactive about keeping everyone in the loop and up-to-date on the status of all tasks
