Wraps up raft of global digital deals including major SpiritClips agreement

Halifax, NS – 18 December 2013 – DHX Media, a leading independent creator, producer, distributor and licensor of children’s entertainment content, has secured a deal with SpiritClips for 173 half-hours of content, along with several other deals with broadcasters across the world for digital rights.

The SpiritClips agreement, which covers the U.S. and Canada, brings the service’s North American audiences Busytown Mysteries and Peru’s most lovable export in Adventures of Paddington Bear, along with several other DHX Media titles. The service showcases hand-picked Hollywood feature films, animated television series, acclaimed SpiritClips Original Productions and is the exclusive online streaming provider for Hallmark Hall of Fame® movies. SpiritClips is currently available on a wide variety of connected devices including mobile, tablet, and stream-to-television viewing platforms.

Germany’s ProSieben Sat1 takes SVOD rights for its platform Maxdome for a variety of DHX Media properties, including the first seasons of neighborhood mischief maker Dennis the Menace, Sonic Underground and Inspector Gadget, along with season 13 of Arthur. These shows are available through ProSieben Sat1’s service across German-speaking Europe including Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg.

Dk ToonTV, a new cartoon-based channel targeting kids aged 2-6 years, has picked up season one of Strawberry Shortcake and Horseland, as well as seasons one to three of popular preschool show, Franny’s Feet. In Russia, NOW CJSC (NOW.RU), one of the fastest-growing on demand services with a multi million audience, has licensed several DHX Media properties. NOW.RU is owned by Gazprom Media Holding and is a trendsetter in the Russian legal video market. The deal with NOW.RU has been inked for three years during which users of Russia and CIS will be able to access over 1,300 half-hours of DHX Media programs, including beloved animated series like Inspector Gadget, Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas and Sonic Christmas Blast, where a blue hedgehog teams with his sister to get Santa out of retirement.
