DHX MEDIA EXPANDS INTERNATIONAL LICENSING ACTIVITY WITH ANIMAL MECHANICALS

Signs up broadcaster TVE and licensing agent Enjoy for Spain

Halifax, Los Angeles, London, Toronto, Vancouver. 31 May 2012. DHX Media, a leading international producer and distributor of television programming and interactive content, together with subsidiary W!LDBRAIN Entertainment, has signed up a major broadcaster and licensing agent to establish popular preschool series Animal Mechanicals in Spain, as it seeks to expand the licensing programmes for its library of internationally distributed TV properties.

TVE has come on board as broadcast partner for Animal Mechanicals in the territory, with DHX Media appointing Enjoy S.L headed by CEO Ruben Gil, as licensing agent for Spain and Portugal. The 73×11’ series, which is one of the top-rating shows on commissioning channel CBC in Canada, will launch on 28th June airing Monday to Friday with repeats, and the broadcast launch will be supported by extended profile in Clan Magazine.

Enjoy will be seeking licensing partners across all categories for Animal Mechanicals and implementing local licensing strategies.

Angeles Blanco, Director of Licensing at DHX Media / W!LDBRAIN Entertainment said: “Enjoy is the ideal licensing partner for the Iberian market. Ruben’s experience and knowledge will have a huge influence in building Animal Mechanicals into a successful property in the region. With TVE on board for broadcast, we are laying strong foundations for the property in Spain as we look to extend the licensing programmes for our TV brands globally.”

Currently in its third season, Animal Mechanicals airs on Kids CBC in Canada and in the US on The Hub. Other broadcasters around the globe include the Disney Channels in the UK and Asia; Radio-Canada, Discovery Latin America, Romania’s HOP, EBS in Korea; Al-Jazeera Children Channel and Prava I Prevodi, which acquired the title for Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro.

Animal Mechanicals is an action adventure series for preschoolers that combines fantastical worlds, mythical animals and cool quests. And the best thing of all, they transform!  In each episode, Rex, Unicorn, Komodo, Sasquatch and Mouse, a powerful team of transforming superheroes set off from Tiger Base, their island-in-the-sky home, for a mission. Their missions always take them to a new floating island that is like a fantastic theme park, with unique landscapes and features. Here, the Animal Mechanicals encounter fun and fantastic challenges. They must overcome these challenges by transforming into “super” versions of themselves and they get to choose and use their special abilities to help them complete their mission.

DHX Media has also produced an Animal Mechanicals App: Beetle Buggy Race, available on all iTunes stores worldwide. Game play centers around helping Mechana-Fast Mouse on her mission to pick up all the Beetle Buggies that are scattered and stuck on the racetrack. Gamers must drive quickly and carefully to gather the buggies and tow them to safety, all the while keeping an eye on the clock.
