Michaela Pavlatova
Director

Internationally known for her sharp social commentary and dark humor, Michaela is one of the most “multi-multi” people we know. Multi-talented and multi-awarded, she has excelled as a painter, illustrator, and teacher, as well as an animator and director. Her collection of distinctive animated films has toured the globe to great enthusiasm, including 1992’s Reci, reci, reci, which was nominated for an Academy Award, received the Grand Prix in Montreal, and accolades at Berlin, Tampere, Hiroshima and Stuttgart. To add to her growing list of talents, Michaela recently directed her first live action feature film, Unava Pro Dva.

W!LDBRAIN has been lucky enough to work with her since 1998, when she began dividing her time between San Francisco and Prague. Graveyard, the original animated series she created and directed for us, was featured in the Panorama exhibition at Annecy and won First Place in its category at the World Animation Celebration. Commercial clients, such as Nestle, Kodak, Mazda, and Wrigley’s Winterfresh Gum have also been graced by the Pavlatova touch.

In addition to receiving a marriage proposal by an entire audience at a film festival, her celebrated career has already seen several retrospective screenings of her films in France, California, Portugal and Prague. With many more to come, we’re sure.
